COLLECTION DATA:
AC 275, 557, 716, 1978, 2473 and GCAC 97. All specimens collected on Prunus exudate in PEI except for GCAC 97 on Prunus exudate at Caledonia Gorge in NB.
SPECIES DESCRIPTION:
Ascomata urn shape (urcelliform), when fresh orange to yellow colour and dries to dark brown, 300-350×200-250µm at apex,160u wide at basal attachment, peridial cells textura elongata at apex; asci uniseriate with possibly a small apical plug, 50-60×3-4µm, no reaction in Lugols; paraphyses filiform, 60-70×1-2µm; spores hyaline oblate (flattened on two sides, elliptic in side view and spherical in face view) 5x3x2µm collect in a yellow white dry mass around ostiole (maezidium).
NOTES:
A colony in PEI has persisted over 15 years in the same location. Mature fruit bodies have been found in spring, summer and fall.
